Origin Story
Living the Dream Acting started as a personal blog and eventually grew from there.
I was struggling on my journey as an actor. "Life" seemed to keep getting in the way. I thought I had to choose between career and family, money and passion, and I believed I was alone. I thought, if I could just share my journey, share my struggle, I might be able to sort through the noise and mental clutter, stay inspired, and inspire others in the process. I wanted to have conversations with people in the industry. People I knew, people I used to know, people I just met, people I wanted to meet. The podcast came from this desire.
I wanted to know how they had achieved their successes, what kept them inspired, and what kept them from giving up. Instead of just calling them up and asking if I could pick their brain and sort through their journey, I wanted to give them something in return. This was especially helpful if it was someone I didn't know well...or at all. I wanted to offer a platform where they could share their story and even self-promote, but the story - the heart of it all - is what really matters to me. I knew that if I needed inspiration, so did others. So I wanted these stories to be shared, to be out in the world, so that I and others would KNOW we are not alone.
In the end, I see the podcast as an act of service. There are other similar podcasts out there and I encourage you to check them out. My favorite, and a great source of personal inspiration is InsideActing Podcast with Trevor Algatt and AJ Meijer. The podcast ran for 8 years and concluded in 2018, but the content is still out there and packed full of inspiration and great information.
Living the Dream Acting is my gift to myself and to you. Take what you need and leave the rest. My hope is that you are better for it.
